(a.k.a. Planned Parenthood).

A link to the article is here.

One of the interesting things about this story is that one of the senators who voted to cut funding is a Democrat, who stated, "I ran on a pro-life platform, and most of my constituents are pro-life."

Imagine that! An elected official actually abiding by his campaign promises! Actually ACTING pro-life, rather than just using pro-lifers to get elected, then forgetting about the issue once entering the belly of the beast! Hats off to Virginia State Senator Charles J. Colgan! I don't know his positions on other issues; but he is correct to oppose the murdering of children. In fact, I wrote him a note thanking him for voting in favor of life. If you would like to do the same, and I would encourage you to do so, here is a link to his contact information. Mrs. Holman has been sentenced to 30 days in jail, and has begun serving the time. The first day in jail, she refused to comply with a degrading strip search, and was subsequently put in solitary confinement in a cold room without any blankets! This in Amerika, which supposedly has freedom of speech! This in Amerika, which goes about the world killing people to advance our way of life! In Amerika, we kill babies, then torture and imprison those who speak against the killing. In Amerika, we see murdering of children as normal, and see those who oppose the murder as "insane." May God help us!

As I sit at my computer in the comfort of my home, Mrs. Holman sits in a jail cell in Iowa City. Will you join me in praying for her? Will you send her a card or letter letting her know that you care, and are praying for and thinking of her? You can send her mail at this address:

Mrs. Donna Holman
Johnson County Jail
P.O. Box 2510
Iowa City, IA 52244

For the return address, you can put her home address P.O. Box 135 Keokuk, IA 52632, which will insure that she gets the mail.

Let's join together and remember those that are in bonds on this 35th anniversary of Roe V. My professional and legislative record demonstrates my strong commitment to this pro-life principle.

"Under our Constitution, the states have the duty to protect citizens against murder, and protecting the unborn from having their right to life violated is no exception.

"I find it unconscionable that the Supreme Court overrules states when they pass pro-life legislation. As president, I will fight to end this judicial tyranny.

"Many talk about being pro-life. In Congress, I am the lead sponsor of HR 2597 the ‘Sanctity of Life Act’ and a similar bill, HR 300 the ‘We the People Act.’ Both bills would negate the effect of Roe v Wade by removing the ability of federal courts to interfere with state legislation that protects life. My bills could pass by a simple majority vote and allow states such as Michigan and South Carolina to end abortion immediately.

"I challenge every candidate who claims to be pro life to support these bills to get the Supreme Court out of the life issue so states can quickly and constitutionally protect the unborn."

More on Ron Paul

Dear reader,

Recently I received an email from Pastor Matt Trewhella, founder of Milwaukee-based Missionaries To The Preborn, in support of Ron Paul for President of these united States. Please feel free to comment.

"Dear Friends of the Preborn,

In this ABC interview http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Vote2008/Story?id=3894906&page=3 Mike Huckabee states that he attends a church in Little Rock modeled after Rick Warren's Saddleback Church in California. He also attended seminary with Warren. Rick Warren of course is the pastor who had Barak 'I've never seen an abortion I didn't like' Obama speak at his church last year during the church's AIDS conference, and now just three weeks ago, he had Hillary Clinton, also a well-known advocate of baby-murder and homosexuality, speaking at his church conference.

The article states that Huckabee "sides with Warren in the chasm between those more traditional members of the so-called Christian Right, and those who think evangelicals should focus on other issues beyond abortion and same-sex marriage."

This article reveals why I have been wary to throw my support behind Huckabee. I sensed the same old two-faced lip-service that the Republicans are famous for when it comes to the paramount matters of abortion and homosexuality when watching Huckabee speak. I fear Huckabee will give us what the Republicans have given us for 35 years now when it comes to abortion - lip-service! I quietly and sincerely hope I am wrong. Nevertheless, we need to realize the Republican leadership likes to keep abortion legal because it is a useful tool to keep the Christians in their fold. Hopefully those of us who are Christians will one day wake up and smell the coffee.

Quite frankly, while the Christians have been busy throwing their hats into Huckabee's ring, I think we have missed a great opportunity by our not supporting Ron Paul. I do not agree with Ron Paul on all matters (there's not a man alive on earth that I do), but he is 100% pro-life. He is honest. He says what he believes and you can follow his voting record and see that he puts his actions where his mouth is. He has been married to his wife for 50 years. And, he actually believes in the constitutional limitations of the federal government.

Why are the "conservatives" attacking and belittling him? Because most "conservatives" are just as big Statists as the liberals are. They want a strong, all-pervasive, central government - they just want their version of it; a more clean-cut version - yet nevertheless strong, all-pervasive, central government.

When will we realize that the central government, our federal government, which has brought us the immoral tyranny that our nation suffers under, is not the answer to undo the immoral tyranny? A Paul presidency would help level the playing field in that individual states would no longer be mere bureaucratic conduits of the federal government. A Paul presidency would return a balance of power in our nation by neutering a mad-dog federal government.

Do you want to see the federal government's tyranny of immorality come to an end? Paul would veto 95% of what Congress sends to his desk. His presidency would be like that of President John Tyler (1841-1845) who vetoed nearly everything Congress sent his way. Tyler was my favorite president and his life is worth a read (he too opposed the formation of a central bank).

I've lived long enough now to have seen that whenever a genuine man runs for president and he gets a little traction going, the "conservatives" (whose wagon American Christianity has tied itself to) attack him through misinformation, outright slander, and guilt by association. They did it to Buchanan in '96 and now they are doing it to Paul. Christians parrot the conservative talking-heads, rather than support a man who stands against the very source of tyranny in our nation - the federal government.

Why Christians continue to look to central government, our federal government, to correct things is beyond me. Did not the Republicans have the House, the Senate, and the Presidency for six years? And did we see abortion end? No, but we saw sodomy decriminalized. The government which governs best is that which is nearest the people, and hence more accountable to the people. Dr. Ron Paul, a Congressman from Texas, and medical doctor who has delivered over 4,000 babies, is a professing Christian who understands that our rights come from our Creator, not the government. He is a strong pro-life candidate, stating on his campaign website, “The right of an innocent, unborn child to life is at the heart of the American ideals of liberty. My professional and legislative record demonstrates my strong commitment to this pro-life principle.” Dr. Paul has sponsored pro-life bills throughout his tenure in office, including the “Sanctity of Life Act of 2007”, H.R.2597, which would define life as existing from conception, and would strip jurisdiction from federal courts to rule on matters pertaining to the right to life. Mr. Paul is also an ardent defender of the 2nd Amendment, American sovereignty, and educational freedom, including the right of parents to home educate their children. I believe we need a president who wants to get back to the basics in government, and who believes we need smaller, local government, rather than the big, bloated federal bureaucracy that we currently have. I believe Dr. Ron Paul is that man. If you would like more information please visit his website at www.ronpaul2008.com, or call his campaign phone number at 1-877-RON-PAUL. I hope you will join me in supporting and voting for Ron Paul for President of these united States.

James Niemela
Pelkie, MI

News from Colorado

Dear reader,

Last time I wrote of 2 states which are working to end abortion. Partly due to fierce opposition from some other "pro-life" organizations in Michigan, most notably the Michigan Catholic Conference and Michigan Right to Life, and despite the hard work of many true prolifers in the state of Michigan, the petition drive was not successful in garnering enough signatures to get the initiative on the ballot. Often times, when efforts like this fail, prolifers across the country are discouraged. However, there is good news. Two states are working to actually stop abortion. What a great idea! So often we hear of news when abortion is only being regulated, such as "parental notification laws", "fetal pain awareness acts", and other measures that really only say when or how you can kill the baby. Why not STOP killing the baby, rather than just regulating the murder? Well, Colorado and Montana are working to do just that!

I wrote earlier of Colorado for Equal Rights, which is working to amend the Colorado Constitution to define life as starting at fertilization. Usually, when such an effort is started, there are many pro-murder people litigating to stop it. This case was no different. After working it's way through the red tape, and finally landing before the Colorado Supreme Court, the court sided with the prolifers in their right to get this issue on the ballot. The petition drive is now underway. Please pray for the Colorado prolifers, and, if you are led to, and are able, donate to this effort.

Contact: Kristi Burton, Colorado for Equal Rights Spokesperson - 719-661-8827

In Montana, meanwhile, State Representative Rick Jore this past spring introduced a bill in the House which would have defined life as starting at conception. The bill made it out of committee, but was defeated in the State House by a vote of 53-45. A petition drive is now being organized to get this measure on Montana's ballot in 2008. I will try to keep you up to date as this matter progresses. The state of Montana has a rare jewel in State Rep Rick Jore. He is a real Christian Statesman. Please pray for Rick and his family, and all the prolifers in Montana as they undertake this great task for the precious preborn!

James Niemela

Persecution of prolifers in Iowa

Dear reader,

I wrote in an earlier article about Missionaries to the Preborn-IOWA and the sham trial of Donna Holman for ministering outside a Planned Parenthood death chamber there. Here is an update from the director of MTP-IOWA, Dan Holman:

- PRESS RELEASE -

At 8:30 a.m. October 23, 2007 , at the Johnson County Courthouse in Iowa City , Iowa , Donna Holman is to appear before the Magistrate Karen Egerton to have her probation revoked for not complying with Egerton’s order.

Donna Holman was convicted of a bogus charge of "Harassment" during a normal sidewalk counseling situation at Planned Parenthood in Iowa City , Iowa . Though video of the purported altercation showed no harassment, Egerton found Donna Holman guilty on the hearsay testimony of Planned Parenthood employees.

The charges were an apparent setup between Planned Parenthood and Iowa City Police. Two female officers eagerly arrested Donna Holman on the morning of November 1, 2006 shortly after Planned Parenthood’s first abortion appointments arrived.

The Jane Doe victim/witnesses whom Mrs. Holman purportedly harassed was subpoenaed but did not show up for court. The courtroom audience was packed with Planned Parenthood executive types.

Karen Egerton accepted the hearsay testimony of Planned Parenthood employees in lieu of the "victims" testimony. She rejected defendant’s video evidence which showed no harassment took place

Though Mrs. Holman has a constitutional right to confront her witnesses, the Iowa Supreme Court, without explanation, denied her application for discretionary review. Donna Holman does not have the financial means to take her case to Federal Court.

Mrs. Holman was given a 30 day suspended sentence pending completion of a year’s probation and getting a psychiatric evaluation and recommended meds. She was also given a permanent injunction keeping her from ministering to abortion bound women at Planned Parenthood.

The court received a psychological exam of Donna Holman from a counselor licensed in California . Egerton insists that Mrs. Holman have a psychiatric exam by a psychiatrist licensed in Iowa ; she is further ordered Mrs. Holman to take psychotic drugs if they are prescribed.

Donna Holman is refusing to comply with the psychiatric exam and possible medication. On October 23, 2007 her probation could be revoked. She could spend up to 30 days in jail for refusing to obey Egerton's order.

This court is arrogant in supposing that a person is mentally ill because they believe baby-murder to be wrong. It is a great evil for government to permit, protect, and promote baby-murder under a color of law. It is hypocritical of Karen Egerton to suppose that a woman has the personal liberty to kill her unborn child, while ordering Mrs. Holman to seek medical attention against her will.

Missionaries to the Pre-born Iowa will be speaking up for Donna Holman outside the courthouse before and after Donna Holman’s hearing.

Whether Mrs. Holman is incarcerated or not, Missionaries to the Pre-born will spend the day in Iowa City speaking up for those appointed for death at Planned Parenthood and Emma Goldman.

Contact:
Dan Holman
Missionaries to the Pre-born Iowa
P.O. Especially when campaigning in churches, politicians will say that they are pro-life. Saying you are pro-life doesn't save any babies, acting pro-life does. We don't need to overturn Roe v. Wade to re-criminalize the murdering of preborn children. It could be done in one week if the leadership of either major political party in Congress would become pro-life and act accordingly. For starters, here is what a pro-life Congressman could do right now:

1. They could co-sponsor H.R. 552, the Life at Conception Act, and move it through committee and bring it up for a vote, now!

2. They could vote against all spending bills that include one cent for Planned Parenthood or any other organization that commits, promotes, or accepts "abortion."

3. They could introduce articles of impeachment against all anti-life federal judges.

4. They could repeal the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act.

5. They could refuse to endorse, campaign for, support, or vote for any other candidate who does not commit to the first four points in writing and on their websites.

Here is what some federal politicians will say after you challenge them on how pro-life they are:

"I won't get re-elected if I bring up bills that the leadership is opposed to. Do you know how mad my political party leadership would get at me if (I) tried to impeach a bad federal judge?"

Pro-Life response: "You are clearly demonstrating that your posh government job is more important to you than your soul or the lives of children. Stand on principle and trust God."

"If you don't vote for me, then my pro-choice opponent will win."

Pro-Life response: "No, you just want fewer dead babies than the other guy, but you can accept some murdered babies. I won't vote for evil by voting for the lesser of two evils. If there is not a 100% pro-life candidate on the ballot for Congress, then I won't sin by voting for any more compromisers for that office. Remember that many German churches supported the election of Hitler because he appeared to be a lesser evil than Communism."

"But if you don't vote for me, than that other wicked party will get control!"

Pro-Life response: "Well, your political party hasn't impeached bad judges, defunded Planned Parenthood, or stopped the killing. I will vote in faith and not in fear anymore."

"Your 'no-exceptions' candidate doesn't stand a chance of winning. He isn't viable!"

Pro-Life response: " Not viable! That's what they say about preborn children before they get murdered. Winning is honoring God and standing for Truth. That is more important than being elected and violating principle to do it."

"You're not being realistic."

Pro-Life response: "Reality is that over 4,000 American children get murdered daily by 'choice.' Reality is that God will destroy America unless we repent and stop the shedding of innocent blood!"

"We have to go slow and work incrementally."

Pro-Life response: "You don't regulate Auschwitz. You shut it down! These are people being murdered and I will not support any candidate that does not get serious, by impeachments, no-exceptions legislation, and endorsements.

"But if I start impeaching and bringing up the bills you want, than I'll lose my endorsement and p.a.c. money from this other 'pro-life' group.

Pro-Life response: "Wouldn't you rather be endorsed by God for obeying Truth than be judged by Him for compromising the lives of children to gain money or favor from men?"

After your Congressman ignores your correspondence or walks away from you, go recruit a real pro-life candidate to run against him.

Note: This is an article from last election, so some details may not be valid anymore, such as bill numbers, etc. But the truths are timeless!

Pro-life victory in Minnesota

Dear reader,

I am writing to let you know about a great pro-life victory in Minnesota. May God bless the faithful Christian prolifers who were vindicated by the Minnesota Supreme Court!

Minnesota Supreme Court Overturns Convictions of Pro-Lifers Who Held Graphic Signs

By John Jalsevac

MINNEAPOLIS, July 17, (LifeSiteNews.com) - On Thursday, July 12, the Minnesota Supreme Court handed down a ruling reversing the criminal convictions of pro-life protesters Ron Rudnick and Luke Otterstad. The pair was convicted for displaying large signs on an overpass on two occasions in the Twin Cities suburb of Anoka, Minnesota just weeks before the 2004 national elections. One sign displayed a large color photo of the aborted infant, "Baby Malachi," while next to it was a large handwritten sign that branded a local Congressional candidate as "pro-abortion." On both occasions the pro-lifers were arrested and jailed by Anoka police, who also took their signs. Charges of "criminal nuisance" and a violation of Anoka's sign ordinance were upheld by a trial judge. Stiff fines and prison sentences were imposed.
The Thomas More Society, with the same team of appellate specialists that won Joe Scheidler's RICO case twice in the U.S. Supreme Court, filed a further appeal. Oral arguments were held last November, and last week, when a four Justice plurality ruled that the prosecution had not proven the signs a criminal "nuisance" or that Anoka's sign ordinance even applied. Two other Justices agreed with Justice Alan Page, former NFL star, who wrote in his concurrence that the defendants' First Amendment rights were violated as the prosecution had been "content-based" - that is, aimed at the pro-life message.
"It is clear on this record that the state's prosecution of appellants under the statute was content-based and therefore barred by the First Amendment," wrote Justice Page.
Tom Brejcha, chief counsel of the Thomas More Society stated, "Graphic photos are controversial even among pro-lifers. We urge that they be used prudently and sparingly - with warning signs wherever possible. But our society has to confront the brutal, bloody realities of this murderous atrocity, as mere abstract rhetoric too often fails to trigger the deep, visceral reaction needed to overcome contemporary America's bland indifference to this carnage."
Brejcha added, "It is impossible to convey certain messages, including the message that pro-lifers Rudnick and Otterstad sought to convey - with all its emotional content - without the use of graphic anti-abortion images. The First Amendment protects political speech that is annoying and even offensive, including speech that stirs people to anger or produces deeply unsettling effects. Those who disagree with a speaker's message must not suppress or criminalize it, but answer it with more speech."

The link to this story online can be found by clicking here.

My thanks to Mr. Matthew Schoech from Michigan for alerting me to this development, and providing the link to the story. Yes, that's right! A group called Colorado for Equal Rights has launched an effort to get an amendment on the 2008 ballot in Colorado which would define life as starting at fertilization. Personhood amendments get at the root of the issue-by defining and declaring that preborn children are indeed persons, have all the legal rights of postborn children, and are entitled to the same protections as born people. It is my hope that you will be blessed and encouraged to read about others who are fighting to stop the murder of preborn children.)

Dear reader,

Today I would like to introduce you to Mr. Cal Zastrow. Cal is a prolife activist who lives in the Saginaw, MI area. He is the chairman of Michigan Citizens for Life, and has fought for the right to life of every preborn child for many years. Cal has also gone on mission trips to China, and is a great encouragement and asset to the prolife cause.

Now to the interview:

JN: Cal, thank you for taking the time to do this interview with me.

CZ: Thanks for asking.

JN: First, could you tell us a little about yourself and your family?

CZ: My family and I are missionaries to the preborn who minister in front of Saginaw's child-killing facilities. We homeschool our children while also travelling to other cities and states to stand against the murdering of children as we proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

JN: Why, when, and how did you first become involved in the prolife cause?

CZ: While youth pastors in the mid 1980's, my wife and I helped a friend start a crisis pregnancy center. We heard about the Rescue movement in the late 1980's and I knew that some folks were finally getting serious about stopping child-murder in peaceful ways.

JN: I have read about the "Rescue Movement" in the late 80s and early 90s. Have you ever participated in any rescues? If so, could you describe the experience, knowing that you could be fined, arrested, and even serve jail time for rescuing?

CZ: Yes, I've participated in many peaceful rescues. Sometimes police arrest us and sometimes they let us sit there all day while the killing office remains closed. Both my wife and I have been arrested, repeatedly. Peacefully interposing yourself between a child and a murderer is wonderful. Whatever consequences befall us for rescuing are trivial compared to children getting their limbs and heads cut off.

JN: What do you believe it will take for the murder of preborn children to end in America?

CZ: For church people to believe and act like Christians. Christians love Jesus and love their neighbors as themselves.

JN: In the spring of 2006, Michigan Citizens for Life conducted a petition drive to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot that would define life as starting at conception. Why do you feel we need an amendment? Are you concerned that, if Michigan adopts a personhood amendment in the future, the Supreme Court will simply strike it down as un-Constitutional?

CZ: The Michigan Constitution does not define who a person is. Biologically, personhood begins at conception. Therefore, every innocent person should be protected by law and by love. The U.S. supreme court should be defied or ignored when it rules contrary to God's Law and the Constitution.

JN: Please tell us a little about some hurdles MCFL encountered during the petition drive. Also, please share any tactics you found helpful while petitioning, like places to petition, memorable experiences, and such.

CZ: The main hurdle we encountered was unbelief - unbelief in God's ability to bless truth and obedience. Unbelief prevented us from a successful petition drive our first try. The best places to petition are where there are lots of pro-life people: churches, festivals, parades, religious concerts, etc. Don't get frustrated with pro-death people, just keep asking more people and you'll get more signatures. I enjoy petitioning and talking to people about King Jesus and the personhood of pre-born children.

JN: How can people help MCFL in their efforts to criminalize abortion/child-murder?

CZ: Contact us, volunteer, donate, and pray.

JN: Are you involved in the political arena? (I do not consider child-murder to be a political issue- it is an issue of right and wrong.) If so, in what ways? And are you affiliated with any particular party?

CZ: I'm currently not affiliated with any political party. I do work with various political officials in efforts to stop child-murder.

JN: Please take this time to give us any final thoughts you may have, and how people can actively work to stop abortion/child-murder.

CZ: Look in the Yellow Pages of your phone books. Turn to "abortions" and read how they market the murdering of babies. Read how they dehumanize children and attempt to deny their personhood. Ask God to put in your heart what is in His heart for innocent children. Tear the stinking ad out of the phone book and follow the map to the death pit! Lift up your voice for the babies in front of your local killing center. Offer help to the mothers. Hold up large pictures of pre-natal babies and ones murdered by choice. After they are done killing for the day, take your voice and your signs and try to get others to care. Cry out in churches, at ball games, on busy sidewalks, and from door-to-door! Allow this wicked culture no rest until the violence stops.

JN: Once again, I would like to thank you for taking the time to do this interview. May God bless you and your family as you serve Him! May He hasten the day when every preborn child is once again protected!

CZ: Amen. May our children be blessed by our faithfulness.

Interview with Mr. Carl G. Oehling

Dear reader,

In this first of a series of interviews with prolife activists from across Michigan and America, I would like to introduce you to Mr. Carl G. Oehling. Carl is an elderly gentleman who lives in Coloma, MI. He has a passion to see murder stopped, and righteousness restored in our land. As a tireless worker for the cause of life, Carl was an encouragement and lesson in persistence during Michigan Citizens for Life's Prenatal Child Protection Amendment petition drive in the spring of 2006. Michigan Citizens for Life's goal is to see the right to life restored for every preborn child in Michigan, and believes an amendment to the constitution defining personhood as starting at conception is what we need to write into our laws to accomplish that. For more information on Michigan Citizens for Life, and how you can help, please visit Michigan Citizens for Life, where you will find contact information.

James Niemela

Now, to the interview:

JN: Thank you for agreeing to do an interview with me regarding Michigan Citizens for Life's Prenatal Child Protection Amendment petition drive.

CO: NO problem. The intent is to be in God's will and to glorify Him.

JN: Mr. Oehling, what did Michigan Citizens for Life attempt to do with regards to protecting all preborn children in Michigan from being murdered?

CO: Michigan Citizens for life understood the words of the supreme court (sic) which said in effect that in their opinion we could ignore the baby in this instance since it had never been stated in the Constitution it is a person at conception. I think a will that includes children not even conceived yet indicates the baby is a person at all steps of life. God's judgment day will convene the SUPREME COURT.

JN: Why do you believe we need an amendment to Michigan's constitution which would define life as starting at conception? Wouldn't a law simply be enough?

CO: For 34 years Christians have been supporting persons who merely say they are pro-life, but do nothing. They con us with 'give us money, vote for us, and we promise good in the future'. I don't believe them any more. They have had their chance for 34 years. Some laws have been passed, but they have not passed the mere opinion of the judges involved. This effort for a constitutional amendment will put the decision into the votes of the people to be written into the basic law of the land, which is the constitution.

JN: What were some practical tactics you found to be helpful when petitioning to put an amendment on the ballot? Such as places that you petitioned, reactions people gave, and things like that?

CO: I found I could gather signatures from any place people are. I stood in front of the Post Office, on the sidewalk in front of a bar, at a fair, at festivals, and the like. Some would take it into their Church and help, but not enough at last try. I think next time I will urge any signer to take a petition and help. That was the bottle neck last time, not enough Samaritans got their donkeys in gear.

JN: What are your thoughts on regulating the murder of the preborn? Some prolifers feel regulation is a step in the right direction, others feel that it is wrong to regulate murder, and believe that any law which ends with "and then you can kill the baby" is wrong and shouldn't be supported by Christian prolifers. What is your belief on this issue?

CO: Let's take the multiple questions in order. Michigan law, MCL 750.316, is already in effect. It maintains premeditated murder is a gross felony. It has no age, sex, color, height, weight, or other limits in it. The Trinity declares murder is worthy of death.
The next question brings into question problems like an ectopic pregnancy. Here I believe we need to consider the knowledge of medical history. We know if the situation is allowed to continue it will soon result in the death of the mother and therefore the baby. God has yet to give us information on how to transplant the baby into the womb. Now we have to make a human judgment of 'does the mother have a right, or even a duty, to remove the problem and thus defend her right to life'. I think she does.

JN: Are you or have you been involved in prolife activities other than Michigan Citizens for Life's petition drive?

CO: Yes. In the early years I looked on RTL as the only choice I had, basing it on Christian leadership and next to nothing from my home Church. I did not do a proper study and think it all through. I now repent of my sins. I had the facts of both science and the Bible. I really have no excuse. There was a hiatus of doing nothing, but then I found a third political Party and in it some Christian friends. We worked and talked together in the Party and finally formed a separate group, "the Michigan Citizens for Life".

JN: Are you politically active? (I do not consider stopping the murder of the preborn as being a political issue.) If so, what do you do in the political arena? Are you affiliated with a party?

CO: I am affiliated with the American Heritage Party at this time. I will run as an Independent in the future because they don't have ballot access. That is one of my next projects.
You pose an interesting question in not considering murder a political issue. In thinking on it, I decided it depends on whether you follow a Humanist or a Biblical Religion. Biblical religionist must live according to the story of the Good Samaritan. Everybody in the society is a neighbor to one another and thus doing right is not an option. However as a humanist, we think on the "survival of the fittest" and allow variable morals with no need to answer to a Higher Authority as there is no god but themselves.

JN: With the 2008 elections coming up, do you see a candidate for President that you feel prolifers can vote for in good conscience? If not, what do you believe prolifers should do in regards to voting? Do you believe a person should vote for a marginal candidate, if the other candidate is evil?

CO: I read in 2 Chronicles 19: 1-3 we are not to support evil persons. At present the major Parties are not stopping the murder of babies. That is evil in my opinion. I don't know what to do except to write letters to the editor, talk it up among friends, and then abstain from pulling their lever in the booth. Pollsters crunch numbers and get some intelligent results. Christian must learn to take their Bible with them into the voting booth. Privately the major parties laugh at Church goers who don't practice what they preach and follow the Humanist Religion's ideas.

JN: Please take this time to give any final thoughts on what we, as citizens, can or should do to stop the murder of the preborn.

CO: Well, I send money to Michigan Citizens for Life by check, so I have a written document that I am an associate member and thus do not represent my Church institution. I am on the Internet so I keep contact with the group. I write to the leadership to support them and urge them onward. The results of last year were very depressing to supporters.

JN: Once again, I would like to thank you for taking the time to do this interview with me. May God bless you as you serve Him, and may He hasten the day when all children are protected from murder in Michigan and across the world.

CO: I thank you for asking. May God receive the glory.

Carl G. Are you ever disgusted by some large "prolife" organizations that seek to raise money, but never push for real change, such as actually banning ALL abortions? In the days to come, I hope to post interviews with some prolife activists who are truly that- ACTIVISTS. These people are not administrators for large organizations, who get paid a big salary. These are people who get their hands dirty actually working for the cause, like getting ink on their hands while collecting petition signatures, getting cold and wet while out on the streets doing prolife presentations at abortion killnics, and have many tired and often discouraging days counseling people to choose life for their baby. Some get arrested for defying unlawful police orders. Some do more low-key work. All are necessary to keep this truth out before the American people- that KILLING BABIES IS WRONG! It is my hope that you will be encouraged to read about these valiant warriors for life. This spring has been a memorable one, with both happy and sad memories. First some good news. My oldest brother and his wife had their 6th child, a little healthy boy. Children are such a blessing! It is so neat to watch as they grow and learn about their surroundings. Our own little John is almost 1 year old, and is digging in everything! Sometimes I wish I could harness that energy. They make solar panels. Do they make "kid panels"? If any of you know of a company that makes them, please let me know. On the other side of the coin, are the sad memories. On April 30, 2007, we laid Grandpa into the bowels of the earth, to wait the summons from on high. Life is short. Grandpa was 78 years old. But even that is just a vapor, like grass in the spring. One minute it is growing and thriving, the next it is snuffed out. May we seek to always journey as the children of God. This life is short, but eternity is forever. Satan goes about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. This is no dress rehearsal- it is for keeps. Do you know Jesus? As the songwriter says, "Are you daily walking by the Saviour's side, are you washed in the Blood of the Lamb"?
If not, today is yet the day of grace. Today He calls you unto himself. Come to Him! Repent of your sins, and trust Jesus solely for your salvation! Today is the day of salvation. Tomorrow may be too late. He says, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
If you do know Jesus, thank Him for His grace! Praise His mighty name for His great salvation! And seek to live according to His Word and His ways. For His yoke is easy, and His burden is light.

James Niemela

My thoughts on the upholding of the "Partial Birth Abortion Ban"

Undoubtedly most of you have heard that the Supreme Court of the US recently upheld the "Partial Birth Abortion Ban". I have grave concerns about this ruling. Putting aside for a minute the fact that the Supreme Court is not a legislative body and does not make laws, this ruling is totally worthless in that it will not save the life of one baby. Further, it is evil in that it specifically states other ways abortionists may kill babies without violating the ban. If you would like to read the opinion, please click on this link. (Note: when they refer to a "D&E procedure", they are referring to abortions in which the babies are torn out in pieces; an "intact D&E" is a partial birth abortion.)
This ruling upholds a law which purportedly bans the procedure commonly called "partial birth abortion", by which a preborn baby is delivered, usually feetfirst, until only the top of it's head remains in the mother's body. The murderer then stabs a scissors in the back of the baby's head, and sucks it's brains out with a strong vacuum machine. However, this ruling in no way infringes on other methods used to kill babies. For instance, on page 17 of the opinion, the court found that "First, the person performing the abortion must "vaginally delive[r] a living fetus." 1531(b)(1)(A). The Act does not restrict an abortion procedure involving the delivery of an expired fetus. The Act, furthermore, is inapplicable to abortions that do not involve vaginal delivery (for instance, hysterotomy or hysterectomy)." Further, on page 34, the court found that "If the intact D&E procedure is truly necessary in some circumstances, it appears likely an injection that kills the fetus is an alternative under the Act that allows the doctor to perform the procedure." In other words, the ban only is applicable to the partial delivery of a live baby; if it is killed first (by injection or otherwise) the ban does not apply. The court also found, on page 20, that "The Act excludes most D&Es in which the fetus is removed in pieces, not intact. If the doctor intends to remove the fetus in parts from the outset, the doctor will not have the requisite intent to incur criminal liability. A doctor performing a standard D&E procedure can often 'tak[e] about 10-15 'passes' through the uterus to remove the entire fetus'. Planned Parenthood, 320 F. Supp. 2d, at 962. Removing the fetus in this manner does not violate the Act because the doctor will not have delivered the living fetus to one of the anatomical landmarks or committed an additional overt act that kills the fetus after partial delivery. 1531 (b)(1) (2000 ed., Supp. IV)" The court not only failed to ban the killing of any babies, it told the murderers how to do their killing! The court further stated, on page 24, that "This reasoning, however, does not take account of the Act's intent requirements, which preclude liability from attaching to an accidental intact D&E . If a doctor's intent at the outset is to perform a D&E in which the fetus would not be delivered to either of the Act's anatomical landmarks, but the fetus nonetheless is delivered past one of those points, the requisite and prohibited scienter is not present. 18 U.S.C. 1531(b)(1)9A0 (2000 ed., Supp. IV) When a doctor in that situation completes an abortion by performing an intact D&E, the doctor does not violate the Act." In other words, if an abortionist was in the process of performing a Partial Birth Abortion procedure, and the medical examiner or whoever would be checking out the killnics came along, all the murderer would have to say is, "Oops, I was intending to tear the baby apart and take it out in pieces, but it came too far out. That is why I am stabbing him in the head and sucking out his brains. It was an accident."
Folks, can you see how lame this ruling is? Can you see how weak it is? I hope I am wrong about it. If you read the ruling, and come up with a different view than I got, please let me know. Maybe I missed something. It is hard to read and understand 39 pages of legal writing when you are not a lawyer. Some may call me a naysayer or pessimist. (I hope not.) Some may read it and prove me wrong. (I HOPE SO!) But, as I understand it, this is probably one on the worst rulings from the Supreme Court since the Roe v. Wade decision itself. With "prolife" justices like this, who needs pro-abort justices?! The worst part is that lots of well-meaning (and some not too well-meaning) folks will relax, thinking the good guys are in there now, so we can ease up in the battle. No, folks, now is the time we need to ratchet up the pressure, and never cease until every child is protected by love and by law! May God help us to that end!

James Niemela

The impartial birth abortion decision, by Dan Holman, MTP-Iowa

Dear friends,

By now, most of you have heard about the Supreme Court upholding the "partial birth abortion ban." Before prolifers get all warm and fuzzy, here is a letter to the editor which was written by Dan Holman from Missionaries to the Preborn, Iowa.

The impartial birth abortion decision

The Partial Birth Abortion Ban is “feel good” legislation for the pro-life movement. The ban does nothing for the babies slated (for) abortion. The abortionist is still permitted to do this procedure if he first kills the baby in the womb.

The Supreme Court decision is bad law on bad law; there is no right way to kill a baby. What should be at issue is the humanity of the pre-born, not what is the most humane way of killing him.

In 1856 the Supreme Court decided it was OK to own a slave, the court did not recognize the humanity of black people. They were wrong then and they are wrong today when they merely outlaw an abortion procedure instead of outlawing abortion on demand.

When passing through the birth canal, nothing magical happens which changes a “fetus” into a “person”. There is no rational legal doctrine behind either legalizing abortion, or outlawing a procedure. I(f) the pre-born child is a person, he is entitled to equal protection under the law; if he is chattel, it makes no difference how he is killed.

It is interesting that this decision was decided at a time when George Bush’s ratings are in the basement. Is it possible that the courts can be influenced to make political decisions to pacify disgruntled supporters?

Thank you,

Dan Holman
Missionaries to the Pre-born Iowa
P.O. My question is, "Do we have a candidate running for President who will stand for God's principles in government and for the defence of the innocent preborn without exception?" Many of the candidates who are running claim to be prolife, but upon closer examination they are really pro-abortion with exceptions. No, that was not a mistake. I really did mean to say "pro-abortion with exceptions". The only truly prolife view is that which defends every innocent life from aggression, without exception. America desperately needs Godly men who understand The American View. Who will champion the Crown Rights of King Jesus over every area of life, and who will stand without apology and without exception for the innocent preborn and their right to be born.
Recently, I called into a national talkshow, where the discussion was on the 2008 Presidential elections, and how some candidates who are running stand on the important moral issues of our times. I made the point that Christians can only vote for a 100% prolife candidate who allows no exceptions for abortion. The guest on the show disagreed with me, stating to the effect that we would never have a perfect candidate unless Jesus Christ ran for office. That the candidates we do have, even though they may not be perfect, are so much better than the opposition. You know, the same old worn-out "lesser of the evils" argument. I am so sick and tired of these well-known people on the "Conservative Right" who preach that we should "vote our values" and put our "faith to action." Then when election time rolls around, they pawn off the latest Republican shill as the "best we have at this time." When there is a principled candidate running, (as in 2004, when Michael Peroutka ran for President, someone Christian prolifers could vote for in good conscience) these same leaders who have spent the previous three years telling us to vote our values won't touch that candidate with a ten foot pole. Enough is enough! I know we will never have a perfect candidate, for all men have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. I am not looking for a perfect candidate. I am seeking a Christian candidate who desires to obey God, stands for the defenseless, and seeks to restore America to her Christian heritage.
I used to vote as a pragmatist-something I fear many people still do. We need to vote for that which is right! Our God doesn't play the game of chance, and neither should we play it by not voting for a principled Christian candidate because "he doesn't have a chance!" It is needful to make a committment today-before we get caught up in the fear of man and "Boogey-man politics" come election time. We need to commit to never support evil with our vote, not even a little bit of evil, not even when the alternative is much worse. No, we need to do that which is right, and leave the results to God! When I stand in the voting booth before my God, I want to cast my precious vote for someone who stands for His principles and His preborn children. If there is not a candidate who meets this criteria, I believe the proper course is to write in a Godly person, or leave the space blank. Or better yet, research the candidates before the election, and if there is not an acceptable candidate, file to run for office as a write-in candidate. Then let your friends, family, and fellow church members know that they now have an alternative. They do not have to waste their vote on the lesser of the evils. (Oh, and if you live in my district in Michigan, please let me know so I can stump and vote for you!) Will you join me in making the committment to not compromise your principles by voting for a compromised candidate? Will you join me in praying that God will raise up a host of Godly men to raise His Standard in the land? May God bless us as we trust and obey!

James Niemela

James Niemela

Introducing some abortion "exceptions"

Dear friends,

We sometimes hear people say, "I am against abortion except for............."
Today, I would like to introduce you to some of those exceptions.

Danielle Shepherd:

Lapeer County Press/Letters to the Editor
December 25, 2005
God Will Bless Our State

Editor:

Michigan Citizens For Life is not just anti-abortion. It is anti-death. Killing a baby is not a woman's right. Many people wanted my father and mother to abort me because my mom had a tumor when I was only twelve weeks old. They were smart enough not to give in to that idea. Michigan Citizens For Life is trying to do away with death by abortion. I do not think it is appropriate to call them abortions, I just call it child killing.

In your Dec. 7th article 'Citizens For Life Group Pushes Anti-abortion Petition', Warren said, "If this language is approved, abortion would have to be outlawed. We would attempt to stop the petition from getting signatures." What Warren is really saying is that MARAL is pro-death and that a woman has a right to kill a baby. Our state will have an 'F grade' if we keep killing innocent babies. We will have 100% if we pass the amendment. God will bless our state if we do what is right. I'm thankful that my father and mother did not abort me, and why? Well for one thing I would not be writing this right now. For another I'm a 9-year-old that understands what the difference between pro-life and pro-death is. And I praise God for life. "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you that I have set before you life and death. Blessing and cursing, therefore choose life!" I would like to call to my reader's attention something in this article. Danielle said, "Many people wanted my father and mother to abort me because my mom had a tumor when I was only twelve weeks old. " She correctly understands that the preborn baby is fully human from conception, is entitled to the same right to life as postborn people, and that the only difference between pre and post born people is the place of residence. May God bless Danielle as she grows to become the woman God has called her to be! May she use her personal testimony to influence this wicked culture to see the preciousness and value of life!

(Danielle Shepherd lives in Lapeer, MI with her Dad and Mom, and her sister Nicole.)

Rebecca Kiessling: (excerpt from her website)

"We've all heard someone say:"I'm pro-life, well, except in cases of rape . . ."or"I'm pro-choice, especially in cases of rape !"Have you ever considered how really insulting it is to say to someone, "I think your mother should have been able to abort you."? It's like saying, "If I had my way, you'd be dead right now." And that is the reality with which I live every time someone says they are pro-choice or pro-life "except in cases of rape" because I would have been aborted if it had been legal in Michigan when I was an unborn child, and I can tell you that it hurts. But I know that most people don't put a face to this issue -- abortion is just a concept -- with a quick cliche, they sweep it under the rug and forget about it. I do hope that, as a child conceived in rape, I can help to put a face and a voice to this issue.
-- Rebecca

For the rest of Rebecca's story, and for the stories of several other people conceived from rape, please visit her website www.rebeccakiessling.com

(Mrs. Kiessling lives in Michigan with her husband and five children, 2 of which were adopted, and 1 which is yet unborn and is due in August 2007.)

Rob Murphy: (excerpt from his website)

"Tales about being in Africa getting chased through the bush in by a rhino, hilarious stories from the road working for a bungee jumping company and sharing the dramatic and emotional story behind his birth have touched many. As a husband and father, and in consideration of the fact that the writer of the article is a lady, I will attempt to be as chivalrous and charitable as I can, while making a couple points which I believe need to be made.

Firstly, the writer referred to Mr. Thomas as having no room to speak to the issue at hand, since he is a man. It would seem that a position like this would make as much sense as saying someone who was not of African descent, could not oppose slavery; likewise, a person who was not Jewish could not have opposed the Holocaust, or a man cannot oppose violence against women, because he is not a woman. I would submit that it is especially men who must protect women and children, including preborn children, and I commend Mr. Thomas for doing so.

Secondly, Miss Harju spoke of Planned Parenthood offering “a multitude of services, not just abortion.” I would contend that, just because an organization offers other services which some persons (clearly not myself) may consider good, does not negate the evil works which that organization commits. After all, Hitler got the economy booming; surely the author would not contend that Hitler therefore should have been allowed to continue his government.

Lastly, the author made the statement, “If they feel that abortion is right for them, then that is their decision.” I would imagine that murderers of born people feel it is their decision to commit murder; likewise, robbers feel the same. However, just because they feel they have the right to commit crimes, does not make it right to commit them. There must be a standard by which actions are judged, and that standard is the Word of God. The Bible says, in Proverbs 14:34, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: But sin is a reproach to any people.”In closing I would like to invite readers to visit my new Web site www.michiganprolifers.net, and feel free to comment on any or all of the articles. Great-but wait. The new “ban” allows for exceptions, and would allow the murder of some preborn children. Should Christian prolifers support this new bill? I say no!

A Christian’s duty is to stand for truth. We must first look at what “abortion” is. Abortion is the murder of an innocent child. Therefore, should we support a bill which upholds the murder of some children? No! We must continually stand and declare that EVERY child has the right to live-regardless of the circumstances of conception, alleged threat to the mothers health/life, or any other excuse which is raised as to why it is OK to kill children.
As the father of 6, I have witnessed the beauty, miracle, and joy of a newborn child. God says, in Psalm 139:13-16, “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.” When God has so beautifully formed each and every one of us, in His greatness, ought we to relegate these precious lives to political maneuvering and compromise? I say no! As a prolife activist, I have come to see, at least to some extent, the horror of what abortion is, through seeing and using the horrid pictures of dismembered babies to try and awaken our country to the sin which it is allowing to continue. I have heard the heartbreaking testimonies of mothers who have murdered their child. They live with it to this day, even though it has been repented of. I have also seen the hardness of people, men and women, who have fought for many years for the “right” to murder children. Should we be content to only stop some of this carnage? No!

We must fight to end the bloodshed in our land, but it won’t be ended by compromise and pandering. 34 years of compromise and regulation of murder has only been successful in prolonging the day when all children will be loved and protected. It has been said, “Justice too long delayed is justice denied.” Christian prolifers must not get caught up in the snare of merely regulating murder. We must continually stand for the babies, and against any bill or effort which does not seek to protect EVERY PREBORN CHILD, without exception. Only then can we expect God to bless our efforts, for His glory!

James Niemela

Prolifers win BIG in Mississippi!

On December 13, 2006, I wrote about Michigan prolife missionary Cal Zastrow, and his conviction in court for "failure to obey a police officer." He appealed the case, and on Friday, February 23, won the appeal. Here are some details from Cal:

"Dear family and friends,

February 24, 2007

Holiness unto the Lord!

Thank you for praying. Our loving Father has shown mercy by granting us a victory in court yesterday. Ken Scott and I were acquitted of the charges of failure to obey a police officer. Judge McDaniel acquitted us of our criminal charge and we do not have to spend the next four months in the Rankin County jail in Mississippi.
We had a prayer meeting outside of the courthouse, and were immediately tested upon entering. A deputy and a lieutenant greeted us with scowls and by pointing to a sign that prohibited cel. phones, books, reading material, purses, food, drink, gum, sleeping, and children under the age of ten in the courthouse.
Ken went through the metal detector first. The Lt. pointed and ordered, "You can't take that Bible in there."
I smiled, looked at the boss, and asked him if this was a statute.
"It is the policy!"
"Excuse me Lieutenant. Could you please tell me which judge has made this policy?"
"All of them!"
"Excuse me Lieutenant. I am a defendant in a criminal case this morning and I have brought my two daughters. One of them is under ten and she won't make any noise or -"
"NO. Don't ask me no more questions!" he interrupted.
Ken was trying to persuade the deputy that the Bible was part of his defense in court and not simply reading material. We went outside to pray again. Eva, my eight-year-old daughter, was crestfallen. She had ridden over 1,000 miles in the car to see Daddy in court, and then was ordered to leave. At our homeschool, Zastrow's Missionary Training Academy, the class on how to stand up for Jesus against tyranny is "hands-on."
Steve Crampton, from the American Family Association Center for Law and Public Policy, arrived and went to talk to the judge to get special permission to allow Bibles and my daughter into court. While waiting outside, I prepared for the worst by saying goodbye to my girls in case this appeal was lost and I had to go directly to jail for four months. Steve came back out with good news. The judge consented. I happily brought my daughters and Bible into court. It was a blessing to have five local pro-life friends in attendance, and a delightful surprise when State Senator Richard White came from the State Capitol to stand with us. The trial began and the prosecution had the two policemen testify that we were holding signs on an overpass and wouldn't leave when ordered to. They felt that we were a "potential safety hazard." They said that we could have impeded traffic on the bridge by stepping into the lane of traffic. The prosecutor pointed out that the police have the power and authority to make such orders. The police testified that we did not actually impede anything, but that it was possible that we could have. Our attorney pointed out the necessity for such orders to be lawful, and that any pedestrian on a sidewalk near a road is a "potential safety hazard." The judge was thinking. He told the prosecution that an officer does have the power to make orders and arrests, but not always the lawful right. He even said that a police officer could order somebody to buy him a quart of milk at Kroger's, but that that wouldn't be lawful or right. The trial was looking real good at that point. After a break for lunch, Ken and I both testified. Steve did a great job at closing arguement while the prosecutor rehashed that the police have the "power" to make judgment calls, etc. The judge actually read the law and the intent of the Legislature for that law as he acquitted us of our criminal charges. In line at the restaurant for lunch, I started witnessing about Jesus to the car mechanic standing behind us. He had his work clothes on. D.L. Johnson was a nice guy who smiled big and told of being born-again just three years ago. The first of two patches on his shirt read, "Capitol Bodyshop." The second patch I received as a word from God for me: "Expect miracles." I asked for one. I got it! All glory to King Jesus.

Thanks again for praying. I am shouting GLORY all the way!

Cal Zastrow"

I talked with Cal Saturday afternoon. He was very encouraged by the victory. So many times when prolifers are arrested, they are the ones who are found guilty. So many times when there are assaults in front of abortion clinics, the prolifers are the ones hauled off to jail, even though it was the pro-aborts doing the slugging. Thank the Lord there is still at least one judge in Mississippi who reads the law and applies it as it is written, rather than ruling based on his own views. May this be an encouragement to other prolifers who are battling the murder of preborn children across our land!

James Niemela

Montana bill failed

I am sorry to report that the Personhood bill in Montana, HB403, was defeated on the House floor. She was sentenced to 30 days in jail and payment of $760.00 dollars in fines, suspended upon one year probation. She was also ordered to undergo a mental evaluation. Once again, the pro-aborts were protected by the court system, and the peaceful prolifer who was trying to help babies and their moms got convicted. Pro-aborts, those who tear the arms and legs off babies, and crush their heads, are considered normal, but those who object to this crime are considered abnormal. Wade, I was watching to see people's reactions to the large pictures of aborted baby signs we were using, as hundreds of cars were driving past. Some were positive, some were negative, but most were apathetic. Most just looked, and looked away. Are we really that jaded and sin-sick as a people that we are not affected by heart-wrenching pictures of bloody, broken little bodies? May God help us! We have lots to answer for when we consider that the blood of 50 million murdered innocents cries out from the ground! 50 million- it is hard to comprehend that number. May God raise up more people willing to fight against this holocaust. May He convict the Church in America for not standing against this bloodshed. May we renew our commitment to fight this horrible blight on our nation! There will be a protest in the Houghton area during the afternoon of January 22, in remembrance of the 45+ million murdered children, and to call America to repentance and action to put a stop to it. The same bill was introduced during the last two sessions and was defeated.
William Wilberforce rattled slave chains in Parliament for over 30 years until slavery was abolished in the British Empire. Please pray that somebody of his stripe will rise up tomorrow in North Dakota.
Yes, it really got down to -30 degrees last week in North Dakota. And, it was windy. Yes, pro-lifers stand in that cold to sidewalk counsel, pray, and hold pro-life signs on the one day each week that the only death pit in the state murders preborn babies.
Doing street ministry in winter in Northern states means sometimes our tears freeze quickly when moms reject help, reject God's love, and murder their preborn children. HB1 would define life as starting at conception, and restore protection to preborn children. Which begs an obvious question- If Georgia can do it, why can't Michigan? Michigan Citizens for Life conducted a petition drive which would have put an initiative on the 2006 ballot to define life as starting at conception, and stop abortion in Michigan. I now have his contact info, which is listed below.

The Honorable Michael Lahti
P.O. Box 30014
Lansing, MI 48909-7514
Phone: 517-373-0850

You may e-mail him at mikelahti@house.mi.gov

Be polite, but ask him to act to protect all preborn children in Michigan. Encourage him to introduce legislation which was drafted by Michigan Citizens for Life, which would define life as starting at conception, and stop abortion in Michigan. The wording is as follows,

"A proposal to amend the Michigan Constitution by adding new Sections 26 and 27 to Article 1 (or if Sections 26 and 27 of Article 1 already exist, then this proposal shall add new sections to Article 1 in the next available numeric order) to read as follows: Section 26: "The right to due process, whereby no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law, guaranteed in Article 1, Section 17, and the right to equal protection of the law, guaranteed in Article 1, Section 2, vest at conception." Section 27: "A 'person', for purposes of the Constitution and laws of the State of Michigan, exists from the moment of conception."
Politely remind Mr. Lahti that acting prolife is what we expect from prolife representatives!!

For the preborn,

James Niemela

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://michiganprolifers.blogspot.com/2007/01/contact-state-rep-mike-lahti.html' title='CONTACT STATE REP. The police regularly use tactics like this around the country to try to disrupt and stop peaceful prolife activities. Donna spent 2 days in jail, and was released on $1000 bond. Her trial is coming up on January 26, 2007. Will you join me in praying that the judge will stand on the side of LIFE? These charges are really an attempt to stop MTP-Iowa's exposing of the murder of children. I have met Donna personally, and she is a very soft-spoken, kind lady. Truly the child-killers will stop at nothing to get at those who expose their wicked deeds!

"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Mike Lahti will be taking over in Rich Brown's place. During his campaign, Representative-elect Lahti made pro-life statements, such as at the League of Women Voters forum at the Houghton High School, where he stated that he is anti-abortion, and further stated his opposition to stem cell research where the embryo is killed. Mr. Lahti was also endorsed by Michigan Right to Life. It was encouraging to hear him take a stand for life. As he takes office, we have the opportunity to remind him that words without action are meaningless. Will you join me in contacting him to ask him to sponsor legislation to define life as starting at conception, and stop abortion in Michigan? Can you call, e-mail, or write him? Now is the time to act and make good on campaign statements which support life. This is where the rubber meets the road. Pro-life officials need to start acting pro-life!! Please join me in asking Mr. Lahti to do so! I will post his contact info soon, so please check back.

Also, I would invite you to join Michigan Prolifers e-mail alert list. You may find instructions on the left hand side of the page. The judge accepted an affidavit of a policeman against me as evidence, even though no police showed up to testify against me. Because Operation Save America had gotten a permit from the City of Jackson to use sound amplification in front of the abortion mill last July, the police arrested people at various other locations who were holding signs around the city because they were protesting outside of the permit zone. The judge went along with that, but didn't throw us in jail. During the first trial, he even declared that he wasn't dealing with the constitutionality of the issues. Six of us were declared guilty and fined $100. plus court costs. Two pro-lifers had their charges dismissed. The judge declared four pro-lifers "not-guilty." Ed Martin was found guilty for carrying a wooden cross on a sidewalk not within the permit zone. It was bananaland, unpredictable, and punctuated with dramatic moments.

Some of the cops lied, but the judge realized this after watching part of our video. Yes, the attorney will appeal our convictions so we can keep on fighting tyranny in the courts. Although brief, my statement before sentencing warned of God's judgment upon nations and judges who support child-killing instead of honoring the Lord. I preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ and declared the humanity of our preborn neighbors. Here's a link to the article in the paper that scratched the surface: http://www.clarionledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2006612200383

The day before our trial, a local pro-lifer was on trial - E.C. Smith. Early this year, abortionist Joseph Booker tried to drive over him. Smith filed charges against Booker and Booker filed charges against Smith, for "threatening him." E.C. is peaceful and didn't threaten anyone. The City of Jackson threw out the charge against the abortionist while convicting the pro-lifer. He got six months in jail, suspended, supervised probation for six months, and fined $250. It was ugly. I preached to abortionist Booker as he left the courthouse. Although he has been imprisoned twice for his various crimes, the judge believed him but not the peaceful pro-lifer.

Before driving home, my sons and I preached on the streets in front of the last surgical abortion chamber in the the State of Mississippi. I'm sure God blessed prayer for out safety as we made it home without problems. Thanks again.

I am shouting GLORY all the way!

Cal Zastrow

Some prayer requests

Dear praying family and friends, Dec. 12, 2006

Holiness unto the Lord!

Before I leave Wednesday on another road trip, there are details to attend to and stuff to pack. My sons, David and Jimmy, are excited to be coming along. Can I please count on you to pray over some items?

1. Friday, Dec. 15, we will join others for a prophetic rebuke in front of Wal-Marts' national headquarters in Arkansas. http://www.savewalmart.com/

2. Sunday, Dec. 17, I'll be ministering in a church in Tennessee.

3. Monday, Dec. 18, we'll be ministering on the streets in front of the last facility in Mississippi that murders preborn babies.

4. Tuesday, Dec. 19, is my criminal trial for "failure to obey" a police officer in Jackson, Mississippi.

5. I've just nailed down the dates for our next missionary trip to China(upcoming).

6. The Michigan Legislature closes for the year on Thursday night. I've talked to my Representative and some others who, so far, are preventing a bill from coming to the House Floor requiring all pre-teen girls to get vaccinated against HPV. (Ed. note-this bill was passed in the Michigan House.)

7. I testified to the agriculture committee of the Michigan Senate last Thursday in opposition to the Michigan Dept. of Ag. criminalizing farmers who don't "volunteer" to get their animals microchipped by next March. This "mark of the beast" for beasts is part of the National Animal Identification System and would destroy what little property rights farmers have left. I'll be helping to draft or promote legislation to stop this evil edict.

8. The politicians are launching a very aggressive campaign to bring a casino to Bay City. We need to organize and oppose this.

9. I'm invited to speak at a pro-life forum in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 22, 2007. Representatives from various states will be meeting who are also working on personhood amendments. I need to decide and let them know within a few days if I can go or not.

10. If court goes well, the boys and I should be home in a week. Please intercede for Trish and the girls staying home. Please intercede for our protection and provision while driving a couple of thousand miles. If you think of our family during the next week, please pray for us.

I'll try to check my e-mails, but anyone wanting to reach me can call my cel. phone: 989-859-4482. Thank you. I am shouting GLORY all the way!

Cal

Cal Zastrow is a Christian Pro-life missionary who resides with his family in Bay County.

Michigan pro-life missionary Cal Zastrow convicted in Mississippi for "failure to obey a police officer."

Dear family and friends,

Holiness unto the Lord! By being able to preach Christ and declare the humanity of preborn children in court, I won! I proclaimed the vision of the State of Mississippi going from the worst civil rights state to the best by being the first state to protect the civil rights of preborn children. I feel that I won the approval of Jesus and the babies. In Pearl, Mississippi, Judge John Shirley didn't see it that way and found me guilty on Nov. 7th of "failure to obey a police officer" and sentenced me to a fine of $250. and four months in jail. Ken Scott was tried and convicted also. He got personal in his statement before sentencing and warned the judge to flee from the wrath of God upon those who are accomplices to the murder of children and those who deny justice. We have appealed the verdicts to the next higher court and our jail sentences are suspended (for now). The attornies from the American Family Association Center for Law and Public Policy did a great job, but the verdict was decided before we ever walked into the courtroom.

The judge didn't like the shirt with a picture of the murdered baby, Malachi, on it. He didn't like it when one of our supporters was praying silently but slightly lifting his hand. He got mad when he saw my thirteen-year-old daughter, Corrie, recording the trial. He even ordered her up in front of the bench and took the camera from her. He sternly barked that the supreme court ruled that no cameras were allowed. And, he didn't like it after the trial when one of our supporters with a laptop respectfully tried to show him the court ruling that cameras were permitted. (He probably didn't like our northern accents, but I don't know for sure.)

Last July, we were arrested for holding pro-life signs alongside a public road during the Operation Rescue National/Operation Save America event. The eight-day event last summer focused on lifting up Jesus and helping local Christians in their efforts to close the last baby-killing "abortion clinic" in the entire state.

The day before I was arrested in Pearl, I was arrested (with others) in the City of Jackson for holding a pro-life sign alongside a public street.

The charge was "failure to obey a police officer." I was ticketed and released. Several of us have trials in Jackson on Dec. 19. I plan to go back. The abortionist at the last death pit in Mississippi, Dr. Booker, recently tried to drive his car over two pro-lifers in Jackson. His criminal trial is Dec. 18. Will the Church show up?

After our trial in Pearl, we stood with the local pro-life Christians outside of the Jackson death center. It was amazing how grand of a stir just a handful of activists and some street preachers could make for a couple of days. There is tremendous spiritual warfare taking place there.

The neighboring businesses are very angry. The police are sick of us. The abortionists hate us. The babies need us, so let's keep the pressure up!

Let's keep singing, praying, preaching, pamphleting, and picketing outside of this last den of slaughter in all of Mississippi.

One of the neighboring businessmen is filing "disorderly conduct" charges against all of us. He did this after assault charges were filed against him when he brazenly sprayed pro-lifer Bill Ashleywith the water hose and turned the sprinkler on him. At least the police saw the sprinkler aimed upon Bill as it also watered the sidewalk and the street. Do you remember what happened last July when the Jackson police did nothing while watching pro-abortion anarchists jumping on a car witha pro-lifer inside while they smashed his car and windshield with a pipe? The police wouldn't arrest them or even demand their names in order to file a report, even after the anarchists threatened to kill the pro-lifer in his car. The police wanted to arrest and jail us last week for not producing government issued identification when this neighbor accused "all" of us of disorderly conduct. Being as I had two of my children with me, I didn't risk arrest but only gave them my name and address. No, I didn't produce id. for them or give them my date of birth.

Let's stop pondering about election losses and take the Gospel to the streets. Let's proclaim with our lives and our liberty that the murdering of preborn children must stop, NOW!

I am shouting GLORY all the way!

Cal Zastrow
